Sometimes, a basic workhorse crane is all you need
Sometimes, simpler is better. The HIAB X-CLX 088 truck-mounted crane for 12,000-19,000 GVW vehicles is a strong, balanced workhorse. It lifts 8.3 tm to 13.7 m, perfect for tough everyday jobs when you want reliable equipment that gets the job done. It’s simple and easy to operate—a bonus for straightforward lifting and loading needs where you don’t need added electronic systems. Its B-Link boom system has three hydraulic extensions but no mechanical links. It’s fast and efficient, especially for quick lift-and-load jobs where speed and manoeuvrability matter.
But there’s nothing basic about even the simplest HIAB crane
The HIAB X-CLX 088 is exceptionally stable. The column sits close to the centreline; the rack-and-pinion slewing housing and 15-foot manual tilt outrigger legs let you lift from either side of the truck with equal outreach. Manual side controls are at the base of the crane for easy access. The X-CLX 088, like all HIAB lightweight cranes, features load-handling valves on all boom cylinders for precise, controlled load handling, plus an integrated hose-failure function and port relief valves that prevent overloading. The HIAB VALVE 80 makes work faster and more productive by enabling you to perform multiple functions simultaneously.
The benefits of HIAB CLX cross-control
HIAB CLX cross-control is the ultimate in manual crane control systems. It makes operating the X-CLX 088 articulated crane simple, easy to use and highly productive, with levers at the crane base and standard sequencing on both sides. The XSDrive Lite radio remote control lets you control all crane functions, including four levels and two outrigger functions, via menu selection. It includes a PSB box with an emergency stop button, two batteries, and a charger, and you can factory order a 12-volt converter.
The X-CLX 088 crane is also available as a stationary mount—the HIAB X-CLX 088B-3. It has a compact base, rack-and-pinion rotation and a separate control valve. Bolted to a fixed base or floor, it can run continuously from power packs or the facility’s electrical grid to maximize truck payloads. It’s a popular model for municipal services maintaining parks and public spaces, for light deliveries of construction materials and building supplies, for transport fleets needing tight-space deliveries and for equipment rental companies.
Options to make your lifts even easier
If your business needs just a bit more, upgrade your HIAB X-CLX 088 truck crane with full hydraulic outrigger extensions, fifth and sixth function hose and pipe kits with quick connects, or a Rotzler hydraulic winch with a 2200 lb. or 4400 lb. capacity (matched to the crane). It’s mounted under the outer boom and includes a wire rope, load hook, downhaul weight and snatch block.
The X-CLX 088B-3 stationary model can be upgraded with a Rotzler TI-2 three-tonne hydraulic planetary winch with a fail-safe brake and 6,000 lb bare drum line pull, mounted under the outer boom. It comes with 3/8” non-rotating cable, a load hook, snatch block and downhaul weight. You can also add an anti-two block system with a cable reel to the boom tip switch, and a custom electric, gas or diesel pack, matched to your crane.
Features that mean a longer life and lower lifetime costs
A slewing mechanism oil bath reduces wear and keeps repair and service costs low. JIC couplings, extra-large, easily replaceable slide pads and easy-access parts help you stay on the job and get back on the job quickly if service is needed. High-tensile steel and state-of-the-art nDurance™ anti-corrosion nanotech coating keep your crane in top condition in any conditions—part of why HIAB cranes have the highest resale value in the industry and set the bar as the Canadian Industry Standard (CIS).
Plus, all HIAB crane models are backed by more than 70 years of HIAB crane experience and expertise and the broad coverage of Atlas Polar’s truck-mounted national sales and service network.
