When maximizing your payload capacity is foremost in your mind, your thoughts should go to the iX.158 HiDUO truck crane. Even lighter and stronger than earlier models, it’s the go-to for on-off loading, building materials and brick-and-block jobs. The iX.158B3 model has three hydraulic extensions, lifting 4500 kg at 3.1 m and 1020 kg at 13’2, with a maximum capacity of 15.3 tonnes. The iX.158E-5 model is optimized for long-reach applications with outstanding reaches with outstanding horizontal and vertical reaches of 15.1 m and 17.4 m, respectively. Payload capacity ranges from 5,000 kg at shorter reaches to over 600 kg at maximum reach. It does it all with speed, safety, and some very cool performance features, and 18-foot outriggers keep everything stable.

HIAB HiDUO reliability

That kind of reach and capacity needs absolute control — no problem for its HiDUO control system with XSDrive remote control. Simultaneously operate many of its 24 proportional functions and up to seven easy-on/off functions with fingertip control from the best loading/unloading position around the crane, even when wearing gloves. The iX.158 reacts instantly to lever movements, maintaining stability even during vertical lifts. HiDUO also features Automatic Speed Control (ASC), which automatically boosts capacity when needed without stopping the system.

Intelligent new features

Both iX.158 truck-mounted crane models boast intelligent next-generation features that keep loads stable, optimize performance and keep operators and equipment safer than ever. 18-foot 180-degree easy-tilt outriggers, a high-performance V200 control valve, and advanced SPACEevo control make them lighter, stronger, safer, faster, precise and perfectly balanced. Use less fuel and save wear-and-tear, thanks to a new Start/Stop function that shuts down the truck engine when you’re not using it. A V200 hydraulic control valve supports high oil flow, maintaining precise control, consistent performance and faster, smoother working cycles. It also incorporates an emergency start/stop button to shut down the truck when not in use, resulting in significant fuel savings. An external display makes monitoring easy, and a factory-fitted base-mounted oil tank adds to that solid footing.

Lots of available options

iX.158 HiDUO articulating crane models have lots of available options to customize your HIAB. Easy-tilt outriggers with gas-spring assist tilt up to 180 degrees, creating more room for equipment and improving ground clearance. Add one or two extra hydraulic functions to the crane tip with hose and pipe kits. Choose hose reels or ‘S’-shaped hose and pipes. A four-in-one multicoupling provides a simple, clean connection for all extra function kits and works simultaneously with single-lever operation. A multicoupler performs all these functions in a single operation.

You can also opt for advanced HIAB safety and performance features. The Vertical Load Stability (LSS-V) system enables even faster, smoother lifting and lowering without bounce, even when a control is moved abruptly. SAF, or Semi-Automatic Folding, lets you fold and unfold your HIAB with a single lever. Variable Stability Logic (VSL) uses sensors to continuously stabilize extensions and truck stability, maximizing capacity in real time. An X-feature override is a spacer for the outer boom cylinder, for use when you need to transport outstretched booms.
