MOFFETT’S NEW ‘FACTORY OF THE FUTURE’ IS IN SIGHT

Moffett Factory

We’re pretty excited that Moffett’s ‘Factory of the Future’ is finally in sight! Moffett first announced plans for its global manufacturing, innovation and R&D hub in Dundalk, Ireland, in 2021, funded by a €50 million investment from HIAB. The new facility is finally at the permit phase, with a decision due from the local County Council on September 18, and that’s fantastic news for Moffett, HIAB, Atlas Polar and our dealers across the country.

Here’s what to expect—and it’s a lot! A secure 6.39 hectare (63,900 sq m) site with plenty of room for R&D, product development, rigorous testing, and, of course, for manufacturing your favourite Moffett truck-mounted forklifts. First, you’ll find a 15,967 sq m facility with a PV-panelled roof housing manufacturing, warehousing and R&D space, plus a showroom, offices, and everything needed to run a future-forward facility.

Beyond that, plans include a service/marshalling yard, an ESB substations and switchroom, and an impressive R&D yard with varied terrain to test and challenge the equipment, a viewing platform to see the action, a machine wash and compound, and a bio-retention SuDs area, plus outbuildings for storage, utilities and all the necessities.

What makes it a Factory of the Future? Equipment and testing capabilities to meet farthinking customer needs and solutions, including electric Moffett forklifts, connectivity and other innovations. Environmental and engineering design solutions to minimize its carbon footprint, like 40 EV charging spaces and equivalent spaces for pedal power. Capacity to support the manufacture of the next 100,000 Moffett forklifts to roll off the assembly line.

It feels like a long time coming, but the future, and the Factory of the Future, could only be weeks away. Stay tuned for news after September 18th!
