MOFFETT’S LATEST DELIVERY WILL MAKE YOU GREEN WITH ENVY
Did you know that different sports and sports organizations play on different kinds of surfaces? Or that they have contracted specifics for those surfaces? Or that sod and turf are two different things? Neither did we—at least not until Moffett truck-mounted forklifts made a special delivery to Toronto’s BMO Field recently.
When Moffetts rolled up to the trucks to unload the rolls, they looked like standard sod. Not so. The reality is that BMO Field follows in the footsteps of other stadiums, installing a new hybrid surface that is around 95 percent grass with some artificial fibres stitched in. It helps with wear and tear, better handles heavy use, recovers faster and is a more consistent playing surface for Toronto FC and the CFL Toronto Argonauts.
Our friends at Green Horizons Sod Farms invited us to join in the fun, and Moffett truck-mounted forklifts helped them complete the field in record time. Job done!!
Here’s what else was exciting about it. FIFA chose BMO Field as one of the match venues for the 2026 World Cup soccer tournament. It’s slated to undergo a $146 million upgrade for that event, with lots more (temporary) seats, new video boards and a rooftop patio.
Green Horizon sod is officially approved for installation at FIFA events, and Moffetts will be present. So we can say the best is there (us), supporting the best (the athletes). Pretty exciting, now if only we can go to the matches!
