HIAB Truck Cranes for Oil and Gas Field Deliveries

Truck mounted crane

R.J.V. Gas Field Services Ltd., based in Vegreville, Alberta, is a recognized source for the fabrication, supply, installation and field service of oil and gas well site production facilities. R.J.V. has built their business on reliable, on-time service to customers, and now have a fleet of eleven fully equipped delivery and service vehicles including their latest addition, a new HIAB 330-5 articulated truck crane installed on a 6 x 6 Kenworth C500.

The HIAB 330 is a 33 ton meter crane that smoothly and easily positions loads weighing 4,400 lbs. at 43 feet from the truck. In close, this crane's performance is excellent as it lifts 20,000 lbs within 11 feet of the truck. The HIAB 330 features an electronic link for increased lifting capacity and the HIAB 91 valve and HIAB SPACE control for smooth, precise fully proportional operation.

Dale Laniuk, the firm's Secretary/Treasurer and Quality Control Manager explains that R.J.V. "tends to go with the top of the line product like HIAB when purchasing equipment. You get what you pay for in a crane. I also like the knuckleboom concept where the crane folds up behind the cab instead of hanging over the truck like a stiff boom crane."

Wes Markowsky, R.J.V.'s full-time HIAB 330 operator, likes the versatility of the HIAB crane and remote control system. "It's easier for swinging equipment into position and you have better visibility. For example, you are now able to unload inside buildings and stand beside a load. You don't have to rely on other people to give you directions when placing loads."

R.J.V. manufactures and supplies a full range of equipment from basic metering units and separator skids, to sweetening units and heavy oil production modules. And the recently opened R.J.V. panel division produces injected urethane panels for housing the delicate equipment that monitors the well sites. Much of the equipment including the enclosed sheds are lifted with the HIAB 330 crane onto trailers and delivered to the well sites for customers.
