Multilift Introduces a Mini-Radio Control System for Hooklifts

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Always an innovator, Multilift recently introduced a new Mini-Radio controller for its hooklift demountable systems.

The XR Power Range of Multilift hooklifts has an optional radio control system based on the standard programmable logic controller (PLC) cabin controller. The radio controller allows operators to work the hooklift from outside the cabin, where they can monitor the load from a safe distance.

Being attentive to customer needs, the team at Multilift answered requests for a compact, simple radio controller. “The Mini-Radio controller has eight function buttons that can be freely programmed to operate hooklift movements or to functions meeting the customer’s specific needs. The Mini-Radio controller is aimed at applications where limited or very specific movements or functions are needed,” said Mark Davies, Product Manager for Hiab Multilift solutions.

The Multilift hooklift demountable body system enables businesses in the materials handling industry to handle multiple types of loads. Advanced Multilift hydraulic systems ease the load on and off the truck. Operators simply switch the body type to change the type of load. The truck body mounts and demounts in less than a minute, making for greater efficiencies in load handling.

Multilift hooklifts are market leaders and renowned for their reliability, productivity, and safety of operation. To learn more about these versatile performers, contact Atlas Polar.

Wireless Crane Polar Remote Controls – Read More in Our New Brochure

“Wireless convenience, high end precision, total versatility and amazing response times make Polar Remote Control Systems the preferred choice in a wide range of industrial applications.”

This quote was taken from our new Wireless Polar Remote Controls brochure. The brochure also outlines the many benefits of Polar Remote wireless crane controls: freedom from cables and tether lines; transmission range of up to 400 feet; fast-charging NiMH rechargeable batteries; a transmission interval of only 15 milliseconds.

And with wireless Polar Remote Control systems, there are no worries about interference: the system operates on spread spectrum technology, meaning that multiple radios can be used in the same area without disruption or interference.

Faster, Safer Crane Deliveries with the Polar 9900R Remote Control System

Friday, September 25th, 2009

For over thirty-five years, crane operators across Canada have relied on Polar Remote systems to improve the efficiency and safety of their operations.

With true proportional technology, Polar Remotes give you greater control over your crane’s movement. More control means safer deliveries and shorter unloading times.

Not only are Polar Remotes safer, they are also easier to learn than manual controls, meaning that your operators can move from training to the job site faster. In fact, Polar radio remotes do not even require a special operator’s license.

Polar Remotes can integrate into a crane’s existing hydraulic system and can be easily installed on new or older truck cranes. The Polar Radio 9900R and the Polar 5200 cable models are our most popular systems. Both offer exceptional performance, but it is the 9900R that we are really excited about.

Since it is radio-controlled, the Polar Radio 9900R system gives you a range of up to 120m (400 ft) without a cable. Using the Spread Spectrum 900 MHz frequency and built-in microprocessor safeguards , the 9900R system is immune to noise and interference. These features allow for the operation of multiple cranes in the same vicinity without worry about interference.

The Next Generation of Crane Control Systems

Crane Remote Control System

I’ve already talked a fair bit about equipment videos, so now I want to shift my focus and tell you about the HIAB Method Magazine. It’s a customer magazine showcasing the hard work of HIAB customers all over the world, and the ways the company develops new products to solve load-handling issues.

The theme of the HIAB Method Magazine 1 2008 is close customer relationships. It includes a great story about a Swedish emergency services team that collaborated with HIAB to design a special crane to make the job of firefighters safer when cutting holes in roofs.

There’s also a story about a popular vacation region in France, and how a disposal vehicle equipped with a Jonsered crane was created to help efficiently provide public utilities and waste management to accommodate 10 times more residents during the summer months. There are more industry stories as well, but I’ll let you check them out for yourselves.

And don’t forget to look at all the cool stuff that’s going on with HIAB, like the latest additions to their equipment family, how their next generation crane remote control system is setting the bar for fuel efficiency, the merging of their loader and forestry crane production lines, and much more.

HIAB Method Magazine 2 2007
Have you ever been to Québec City, specifically its historic heart? If so, then you can picture its narrow streets and beautiful heritage buildings. Now imagine making deliveries there. Of beer. In kegs or cases. Then repeat the task in towns and villages across Québec.

Hauling a 50 kg keg of beer up to a third floor restaurant was difficult and unsafe – many delivery personnel ended up with serious injuries. Luckily, the fleet manager at Labatt came up with a possible solution – Hiab cranes. He approached John Stuart, General Manager of Hiab Québec, a subsidiary of Atlas Polar, andtogether they devised a logistics plan that would make deliveries safer and more efficient.

To streamline things even more, they added Moffett truck-mounted forklifts to the mix. Now both majorQuébec brewers – Labatt and Molson – have incorporated Moffett into their logistics plans and both are reaping the benefits.

To read more about how these companies used HIAB and Moffett solutions to overcome their delivery challenges, check out this issue of Hiab’s Method, load handling magazine.

Atlas Polar’s Cutting Edge Wireless Remote Control Systems

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Polar Remote BrochureI have a tough time writing about the Atlas Polar Wireless Remote Control Systems. Not because I do not have a lot to say about the subject – I actually have a lot to say about this cutting edge precision remote technology – but the truth is I have a hard time not going off on a tangent about how cool this wireless remote system really is. For example, did you know that it was the President of Atlas Polar, Bob Parr, that invented North America’s first true fully proportional remote control system for adding to hydraulic valves back in ’72. Coolness factor aside, though, I will try to stay en Pointe.

As I mentioned, the Polar Wireless Remote Control System is an industry-leading wireless radio control system. It offers unloading technology that is convenient, versatile and efficient. The fully-proportional wireless remote system allows the driver-operator to control unloading from the drop site – even from a second floor window opening – allowing an additional hand for fast unloading of deliveries.

The wonderful thing about this system is that it allows the operator completer freedom of movement. Utilizing the wireless Polar Remote, a crane operator can safely (and without a spotter) unload from the best possible viewing position. The load is dropped precisely where it is needed, without being tied to the crane itself. Once the load is on the ground, the operator can then assist in unloading, freeing up valuable manpower on the jobsite and allowing for a quick turnaround on jobsite deliveries.

Polar Remote Control Systems can readily be installed on either new or existing truck cranes and do not require a reworking of your crane’s existing hydraulics system. By reducing loading/unloading times and improving operator efficiency, a wireless Polar Remote Control System will lower your operator costs while improving operator and site safety. How cool is that?
