Moffett Forklifts Perfect for Poultry Live Haul

Friday, March 5th, 2010

We all know that Moffett truck mounted forklifts are versatile machines, but did you know that there is a specific model designed for poultry live haul operations?

The Moffett M9 truck mounted forklift has proven itself in this industry, where it has reduced transportation costs between farms and processing plants. This model of forklift can be mounted on a truck or towed on a trailer, making it suitable for a range of transportation methods.

Moffett piggyback forklifts are known for their maneuverability and the M9 is no exception. Nimble machines with hydrostatic all-wheel drive and moving mast design, these forklifts perform better than the competition while lowering cycle times. Their durability means lower maintenance costs. Ease of use and operator comfort are other features of the M9 and the entire Moffett line.

As far as the specific task of poultry live haul, the Moffett piggyback forklift excels. It offers excellent visibility and precision handling of cages. Not only is it the best choice for chicken catching machines, it is also designed for other types of poultry handling, including chick placement, pallet moving, and protein recovery.

Kubota Engines and Moffett Forklifts – A Winning Team

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

The Kubota engine is recognized as the premier industrial engine in Canada and has been used to power Moffett forklifts for close to a decade. The latest Kubota 03-M Series engines are found in the Moffett M8 series of truck mounted forklifts, including the popular M8 50.3, M8 55.3PL (Pantograph and Lift Assist), and multi-directional models.

Here are some of the reasons Kubota engines are so well respected:

  • They comply with the most stringent regulations for emissions, including the EPA Interim Tier 4 regulations, effective until 2012, and the EU Stage III A requirements, effective to 2012 and beyond.
  • These engines are known for their durability in all kinds of industrial applications, their excellent performance and versatility.
  • Kubota’s original casting technology acts as a countermeasure against heat load of high power density, making the engines more reliable and durable.
  • Kubota engines are clean and quiet. The E-TVCS system has been improved to reduce particulate matter by 50%, while other improvements have lowered noise levels by 1.0-2.0 dBA over conventional diesel engines.
  • With side power take-off (PTO), a hydraulic pump can be installed at two side PTO locations.

When you combine a Kubota engine with the superior quality of a Moffett forklift, you get an industry leading solution for materials handling.

Fairgreen Sod Farms and Moffett Forklifts, A Great Team

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Atlas Polar is proud to do business with Fairgreen Sod Farms, a family–run company that strives not to be the biggest sod grower in Ontario, but simply one of the best.

How times have changed since the company started. Fairgreen began with one farm in the Markham area, but now grows sod on over 1,600 acres across 18 different farms. In the early days of the business, the act of harvesting sod was very labour–intensive. Because it was hand–cut and rolled onto trucks, a crew was able to harvest only about 3,500 rolls of sod per day, if conditions were good. Now, with mechanized harvesters, Fairgreen can harvest over 35,000 rolls of sod per day.

The company does more than just grow sod, of course. It offers everything needed for lawn care, including seed, top soil, triple mix, fertilizer, and their own garden blend of peat, manure, compost and mineral soil.

Fairgreen delivers its products across much of the GTA. As they note on their Website, their trucks “are equipped with turf tire forklifts which enable them to travel across lawns and driveways” so that bags of soil can be placed exactly where they are needed.

The forklifts they use are Moffett forklifts, available from Atlas Polar. Moffett forklifts are versatile and durable. They also have the highest resale value in the industry.

Fairgreen has discovered the flexibility and excellent performance in Moffett forklifts. To learn more yourself, visit our Moffett Truck Mounted Forklift page. To find out more about Fairgreen, or to read their very helpful lawn care tips, visit them at www.fairgreensod.com.

Introduction to Moffett

The Atlas Polar website is full of interesting and informative items. We are constantly updating our site with new info and videos so that we can remain a resource for our customers and friends. One of the videos that we have just uploaded to our website is a short but valuable operator training intro clip for Moffett Truck Mounted Forklifts.

If you recently purchased a Moffett Truck Mounted Forklift, or would just like a quick refresher, take a few moments to check out this video.

I know that, for a lot of people, there is a tendency to skip over the introduction in a manual or the first couple of paragraphs in an instruction list. When it comes to heavy equipment, though, this is not always the best idea. In this intro video, a few key facts about the Moffett Truck Mounted Forklift are pointed out that bring home the importance of reading the manual and understanding safety features. As an example, if you have operated one model of this machine, it does not necessarily mean that you will be able to operate every model in the exact same manner. Features and functionality may vary between models.

The video can’t be more than two minutes long, so please take a look and feel free to comment about it on this blog.

How to choose the right truck mounted forklift

A forklift is a very significant investment for any company. And, although one particular model of truck mounted forklift can perform a lot of different tasks, there is no one-choice-fits-all solution. Choosing the right piggyback forklift will help you get the right jobs, and then get those jobs done properly, efficiently, and safely. Choosing the wrong forklift can be detrimental to your operations, your operators, and your bottom line. Before choosing your next truck mounted forklift, there are some important questions that you need to ask yourself.

Here is just a sample of the type of questions you should answer before choosing your forklift:

  1. What type, weight, and dimensions of products will I be delivering?
There are various attachments, accessories, lifting capacities and grip / manoeuvrability options associated with different forklift models and styles.
  2. What lift height will be required for my deliveries?
Standard, extended, and collapsed mast options are available for different height requirements.
  3. How do I plan to mount the forklift to the truck, and in what season will I utilize my forklift?
Modifications may need to be made based on model and season.
  4. What is the model’s performance history, typical resale value, and what sales support offerings?

If the particular model you are looking at has a good performance history, especially for your area, a good resale value, and comes with excellent support, this means you are on the right track to finding equipment that is right for you.

For detailed information about choosing the right model of forklift for your operations, take a look at this PDF, entitled How To Choose The Right Truck Mounted Forklift.
