New Wireless HiVolt Alert™ Proximity Warning System from Atlas Polar

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The risk of electrocution runs high at construction sites with high voltage power lines, and often proves fatal. Atlas Polar recently introduced the wireless warning system HiVolt Alert™, a useful tool to help crane operators haul loads safely in such risky environments. It is has been noticed that in most cases of electrocution, the operator is unable to verify the actual distance of high voltage power lines. HiVolt™ addresses this by sounding an alarm to notify the operator that a hazard exists on-site.

This warning sensors are entirely wireless and can be placed anywhere on the equipment. There is also no need to reprogram the sensor to suit each environment. Once the sensor has been installed, it can be used at any job site. The sensors can be attached to extension equipment like boom arms and masts.

To effectively detect danger, two sensitivity levels have been assigned to the sensor. The ‘Near Work Zone’ is less sensitive and can be used at low risk sites while the ‘Far Work Zone’ is extremely sensitive and is most useful at dangerous sites. Atlas Polar recommends the use of this warning system not just at construction sites but also on fire department ladder trucks, dump trucks, tree trimming trucks and logging trucks.

Each HiVolt Alert™ warning system comes with a display hub, alarm indicators and sensors that contain visual and audio indicators. Three levels of alarms are used to indicate the level of emergency. The sensors are built with high capacity rechargeable batteries and are supported by solar cells for additional power.

New Multilift XR5N Hooklift and Isuzu N-Series: Simple, Reliable and Efficient

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

Check out the Multilift XR5N and 2012 Isuzu N-Series truck package. Here, we have an innovative hooklift system working in tandem with Isuzu’s proven light-duty truck – the N – Series. What does this compelling package have to offer?

The Multilift XR5N hooklift system incorporates an innovative single-plate subframe, a sliding hook mechanism, a hexagonal lifting arm/hook arm profile, and asymmetric lifting frame designs. All these translate into exceptional performance and simpler operation thanks to easy and quick body mount and demount functions. The clever and pioneering construction results in low weight and high strength, which means that the hooklift system allows greater payloads. The Multilift XR5N has a 12,000 lb capacity and a fifty degree dump angle. It is also compatible with older Multilift containers.

The Isuzu N-Series is the perfect foil to the XR5N. The trucks are easy to drive and maneuver owing to their tight turning circle and low cab forward design. Their flexible frames accommodate a large range of body applications. The cabs are comfortable, boast good ergonomics, and offer very good visibility; so the driver operating the hooklift works out of an efficient space. Powerful engines, low CO2 levels and decent fuel economy ensure good performance and low operating costs.

Safety is an important aspect of any truck/hooklift combo, and in this area the N-Series/XR5N excel. The hooklift system is fitted with load holding and double check valves for load support even in cases where a hose may burst. The off-centre lifting frame and hook arm location offers impressive operator visibility. The best-selling N-Series, meanwhile, is one of the safest trucks in the light-duty class.

Quality Assurance from the Outset

Monday, December 19th, 2011

As the exclusive distributor of HIAB equipment in Canada, Atlas Polar is the go-to destination for quality HIAB cranes, Moffett truck-mounted forklifts and Multilift hooklift systems. The company has gone from strength to strength over the years, with a fairly healthy economy and a flourishing energy sector contributing to greater optimism.

Customer demand has also remained strong given that HIAB products have delivered the expected performance and Atlas Polar has remained committed to customer service excellence. An article in the 2/2011 HIAB Method magazine takes a more detailed look at how Atlas Polar has reached out to and served customers dedicatedly.

Companies looking for load handling solutions have to match their needs to the equipment perfectly; this promises a good ROI. The equipment provider, on the other hand, must understand these needs properly to be able to suggest the best solution. And that’s what Atlas Polar focuses on to ensure that the HIAB truck-mounted crane or Moffett forklift in question serves its purposes admirably. This is perhaps a reason why customers trust Atlas Polar to meet their unique requirements. Take for instance, Canadian company Patene Building Supplies, which purchased the HIAB XS 453K truck crane to enable lifting and lateral transfer of roof supplies 12m in the air. HIAB’s innovative products have also made previously restricted areas more accessible now, thereby catering to many more applications successfully.

Atlas Polar gives its customers multiple options to own quality HIAB equipment. It is recognized for truly flexible in-house financing. For the past twenty years, customers have enjoyed the many advantages of Atlas Polar’s rent–to–own programs, short-term rentals and direct purchasing options.

A Great HIAB Crane for Concrete Forming

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Concrete forming is an integral segment of the concrete construction industry, the other two being concrete finishing and material handling. It is aided by cranes that lift and place concrete forms that are required in the construction process. Now, builders have a safe, fuel-efficient and high-performance crane from HIAB that is specifically targeted at Canadian concrete forming. The HIAB XS 410K is a great addition to the company’s line-up of excellent truck-mounted cranes, and it is loaded with features that would make any owner happy.

With a maximum 22.5m reach for a lifting capacity of 997kg, the XS 410K boasts fast and smooth operations with true proportion control. Its two boom design is aimed at delivering quick speeds and precise control, while its crane outriggers are mounted to the front for increased reach and ground clearance. The 410K’s load sensing variable displacement pump offers hydraulics on demand. This means that you can enjoy both high speed and fuel efficiency.

Ergonomics and operator safety are two crucial aspects of any truck mounted crane. In this regard, the XS 410K does not disappoint. The main outrigger can easily be adjusted for deployment from the top seat, while the crane also offers the operator easy access to the top seat boom controls. You cannot talk about a HIAB crane and not marvel at the design features that make it such a durable unit. After all, truck mounted cranes from the manufacturer have the best resale value in the industry. The XS 410K’s 460 degree rack and pinion rotation system in oil bath guarantees lasting durability, while its smart design incorporating fewer parts keeps your maintenance hassles (and costs) low.

We have so many great video clips of our hooklifts, truck-mounted cranes, forklifts, and Mixveyor concrete conveyors that we decided to centralize them all in one easily accessible place online—YouTube!

Our new YouTube channel features a wide selection of short video clips that show our products in action:

HIAB Québec Invitation to BMR Buying Show

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

HIAB Québec recently exhibited at the BMR Buying Show in Place Forzani, Laval, Quebec on March 24 and 25th. They were invited as a select BMR supplier and brought with them displays and equipment like HIAB truck cranes and Moffett forklifts installed on customer trucks.

BMR started as a group of six lumber and building materials dealers. They decided to get together to pool purchases and increase buying volumes to pass on savings to their members. The group eventually expanded into hardware distribution. BMR now has more than 183 dealers/members operating renovation centres across eastern Canada. As BMR’s website notes, in 2006, “the commercial flow generated by BMR dealers exceeded the billion dollar mark.”

At the BMR show, HIAB Québec put the spotlight on versatile, durable equipment that has long served the building materials industry: HIAB truck cranes and Moffett truck mounted forklifts. For moving all kinds of building materials—plywood, bricks, pipes, landscaping supplies, roofing supplies—HIAB cranes and Moffett piggyback forklifts offer the perfect combination of power, ease of use, and manoeuvrability.

Congratulations to HIAB Québec for their excellent showing at the BMR event!
